Stosh, super furry animal. Posted by Hello

Super Furry Animals

Whenever we drive south to visit my wife's family, we bring along a stack of CDs to help kill the time. (Pointless side note: Some people like driving; I'm not one of those people.) While looking through my completely unorganized collection prior to leaving, I stumbled across this old promo of a 1997 Psychedelic Furs compilation, Should God Forget. I wrote a blurb about it when it was released and, for some reason, didn't pay much attention to it since. Oops. Hearing it this weekend brought back some great, vinyl-era memories of discovering the band in college. The first three records--now remastered--are outstanding, and while they started to lose it around '84's Mirror Moves (which is sort of Furs-lite), even that one has some good stuff on it. The Furs are definitely on the short list of best bands of the '80s.

Speaking of stuff(ed), I ate too much on Thanksgiving. So it goes...

And to tie everything together, there's a photo of this site's namesake. It's more for test purposes, but come on, he is cute.

Born to Follow

So, a number of my friends have blogs, and I thought, "If those idiots can do it..." Actually, that's not what I thought at all. They're not idiots. But I'm curious about the whole blogging thing, so I thought I'd give it a shot. Problem is, I wonder if I'll ever have anything to say that's worth reading. I'll likely post infrequently and will include freelance work when/if appropriate. Or even if not. A little self-promotion is good, right? I welcome any comments, either about what I write here or any of my freelance work that I've posted.

To start, let me say that while this blog is named after one of our cats, I'm not one of those freaky cat people. You know the type....12 cats, feces-infested home, etc. (Watch
Animal Precinct for visual examples.) I just couldn't think of a better name at the time. Which might portend poor things for this blog's eventual content... (In my meager defense, I did try a couple of other names, but they were taken.)

Anyway, I'll start with
this. It's an article I wrote on Columbus' Moviola.
I've been friends with one of the guys in the band for about 16 years, except for that approximately two-year period when he wouldn't speak to me, perhaps justifiably, because I almost wrecked his car. With him in it. But that's a story for another day.

Oh, and Happy Thanksgiving. Safe travels.
